I tried the self checkout but quickly realized not only did I miss the conversation but I buy too many vegetables for self check out - too many numbers to try an type in. I always like a chat with the person/people behind the counter.
Oh no! I loved those Ellen Gilchrist novels. They have followed me over oceans to Africa & Italy (They are now trapped in a container somewhere between Rome & Venice) Thank you for the warning. When my bookcases are finally back with me & I am putting my beloved battered paperbacks back on their shelves I will remember your words & who I was when I read them all those years ago.
I still love her writing. It's just a different time, and I'm different. And, her women still get to screw up without being completely taken down and that is something to celebrate! I think I'm going to read Ellen Gilchrist's journals, which are also published. Meanwhile, thank you for reading my newsletter! Cheers to you! xN
i loved reading this, and even though i did go down the rabbit hole to watch the video of the restaurant, your writing brought me right back. thank you for this (kind) reminder to be kind! wondering if you know about (not exactly related but kinda?) the World Taste and Smell Association? i learned of it yesterday and it seems to be of this same ilk, but to bring understanding/inclusivity in the culinary world for those who've lost their sense of taste and smell.
I'm certainly going to check it out! Thanks for the recommendation. Have you heard of the pop-up in Canada (Montreal I believe) in which the patrons are served in pitch black and the servers are sight impaired? Take good care! xN
I always love your newsletters.
Thank you, name sister! I hope you're well and happy. xN
