It's rare that one essay is enough for me to smash the subscribe button, but "Tell Me ..." was that essay. I've been wrestling with how my own mother struggles with my small victories, and how I mute them for her comfort. So much to say (and write, if I could just find the muse). "Wild Game" is on the bedside table and will now be pushed to the top. And "Shout Her Lovely Name" will be soon. Also - read, write, eat - a few of my very favorite things. Can't wait to see what you do here!

Wow! Thank you so much. Your lovely note warms my heart! I understand the muting we all do, and I so don't want to make anyone dim their light to assuage my ego. I am here right beside you, celebrating your victories small and large. Thanks for taking the time to write to me. xN

I loved the essay. Thank you for your honesty and beautifully capturing and sharing how we dim each other as women and how we can live outside that construct.

Thank you, Mary! Beautifully said regarding how we “dim each other.” I am grateful to stand beside your light.

Thank you, Cheryl! I'm so glad you took the time to read and to let me know. That essay was a doozy to write and left me a little ... nervous. I guess that writing that scares you is always true and worthwhile. It means so much to me that you liked it. Smooches!
