My sister sent me your Mirror essay! I love your writing! I’m in the midst of Tom Lake right now. Inread anything Ann Patchett writes! I was just thinking last night how well everyone gets along.....so I laughed when I read your thoughts! I’m also in the midst of Banyan Moon which has plenty of strife.
I too will always read Ann Patchett! Love her work. And hooray(?) for strife! Well, maybe only in novels! ;) I had a writing teacher who used to say, "Remember, no one loves conflict, except readers." xN
I did love it, and I get it. The novel was a lovely romp in Shangri-la that isn't a reflection of many families, including mine. But current times call for a Shangri-la in my view.
I will see her tomorrow night, and want Cheryl to grill her! I think Ann is usually amazing! Shangri la is perfect. Wish Joel a very happy birthday and year!
First, i'd love info on the novella class. Wonderful reflection on the craft and prompts to try. I resist too much, but love working with prompts. My husband just had a birthday and no cake. The hum of life just rumbled through it and I reatlly, really thought I'd make him a chocolate treat( his faves). I apologized with brownies...which we forgot to eat. Sláinte. x
love the mirror essay. Went thru something similar in my 40s, only it was Saks (disappointment at my marriage similar).....also thx for the carrot cake recipe. I have become the birthday cake baking grandma, and we haven't yet tried carrot cake.....
