a desire path
writing together
Welcome,
I just learned about desire paths… informal trails created by people or animals taking the most convenient route between two points. A desire path comes to be where no official path exists. They rise up from repeated foot traffic and can lead to changes in the landscape.
hmmm…
Doesn’t this seem a metaphor for us writers? At our desks, kitchen tables, in cafés, on buses, writing our way into places where no official path exists. We each create our own desire paths in our writing lives by repeatedly writing, habitually returning to the page because we want to know what the hell this life is all about… because we have a story to discover and tell. Desire paths lead to change.
If you’ve been feeling creatively stuck on the same path. If you’re in need of early spring awakening the Desire Path is an invitation to write in community, to begin something new, to work something out on the page, to play on the page, to reconnect with a project, and to meet other writers. This meetup is for writers of all levels! Perfect for spring. Perfect for strengthening our writing habit.
An invitation:
Join us for 90 minutes of writing and community.
We begin with a short writing sample from the world to ground us in language and to inspire us.
We write to very open ended prompts to generate new work or to use as a new door into your writing project.
We share writing (if you feel comfortable).
We close with promises and plans to keep writing, to keep establishing our desire paths.
Sounds perfect, right?
