Hi Hi,

I love this time to year… cooking, gifting, decking the halls. But also, I hate this time of year because I have such high expectations of togetherness, of tight circles of family and pals. As a young woman I 💯 bought into the promise of the J. Crew Christmas catalogue… everyone running around in the snow in matching footie pajamas with a golden retriever! Drinking eggnog by the fire! Playing charades, cooking together, laughing, singing carols, happy all the time….! An impossible standard.

Also, when (voluntarily) yoked with the labor of making the holidays joyful for everyone else, I give short shrift to my creative work. I mean, there is only so much time in a day.

This year, I’m in France! Wee (or Oui!) … no home to decorate, no required meals to prepare (though I am looking at you Bouillabaisse for Christmas dinner). I’m committing to my creative output and I’m offering you the same.
